Using CommentHunt for Link Building
By Seo Consultant of Demtron
Creating backlinks to a site is common way to increase traffic and search engine ranking for a web site. One method of creating backlinks is to post comments on blogs. When blogs were first gaining traction on the Web, most blogs would accept comments, and any links in those comments would be considered viable backlinks. As a result, comment spam became rampant. In 2005, Google introduced the "nofollow" attribute for links so that they do not pass along ranking influence to the target page. Presently, most blogs add the nofollow attribute for comments, thereby negating potential ranking benefits to commenters. Many blog owners purposely eschew nofollow and allow comments links to pass influence (these are called "dofollow" links), though these are a small minority among all blog sites. In general, there are few, if any, visual indications on a blog identifying its dofollow or nofollow status. How does one go about finding dofollow blogs that accepts comments? CommentHunt.com is a blog search engine that lists only dofollow-enabled blogs. As of the time of this writing, the list of sites cataloged is pretty small but growing. One can search for blogs that contain a specific set of keywords. This is great for finding blogs on a specific topic. Note that duplicate entries are an issue – a single blog that’s in the list might have many entries in a result set. From my experience with using it, CommentHunt.com will bring a sizeable percentage of sites that have disabled followed links, possibly due to the blog owners changing the statuses of their blogs. These sites can always be reported to CommentHunt.com for removal from the database. After finding a site, be sure to double-check its dofollow status. Even with its minor flaws, this is a free and fast tool that should be considered for inclusion in a link-building strategy.

Since Google has merged with MSN and Yahoo on SCOUR I am curious as to how page ranking and backlinks will change the effectiveness of programs that attempt to raise the ranking of websites.

Over the last couple of years blogs have grown in popularity. Spammers latched on to the fact that when adding a comment to a blog post they could add their link to the comment. Search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN count incoming links to websites and use these to determine which sites rank highly in their search results. ----------------- williamgeorge Link Building
Internet behavior has also changed. Users ignore ads; but are interested in gaining visitors to their site.
